Travis Kelce has long been underpaid relative to the NFL's other top tight ends. Even though Kelce has had an immeasurable impact on turning the Kansas City Chiefs into a juggernaut, the franchise had not been paying him at a level commensurate with his contributions to the Chiefs' Super Bowl dynasty.

That's all changed, as Kansas City has reached a fresh agreement with Kelce's agent Mike Simon to extend the player's contract following the 2024 NFL Draft. The contract extension leaves no doubt as to how highly Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs franchise continue to value the 34-year-old -- and Kelce might now get a little bit closer to girlfriend Taylor Swift in terms of personal wealth.

What are the terms of Kelce's new contract?

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Kelce is signing a two-year extension with Kansas City that makes him the league's best-paid tight end after years of exceptional service that reinvented how coaches and coordinators view the position.

Exact financial details were not readily available, but it's safe to say Kelce will be getting a substantial raise, less than a year after acknowledging the feeling that the Chiefs were "taking advantage" of him. Kelce's previous contract was due to expire in 2026 -- and although the total value of that deal ranked third among tight ends, nine other tight ends had more guaranteed money coming to them from their contracts, and Kelce watched as the Minnesota Vikings' T.J. Hockenson signed a record-breaking deal for a tight end last August.

This was before Kelce enjoyed another productive season in 2023, garnering selection to his ninth consecutive Pro Bowl -- although his streak of consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons ended at seven. Still, Kelce came alive in the playoffs as the Chiefs won their second Super Bowl in as many years. In four postseason games, he caught 32 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns from Patrick Mahomes, including nine grabs for 93 yards in Super Bowl LVIII.

Kelce is the latest core member of the Chiefs to extend his contract this offseason. Star defensive tackle Chris Jones signed a new five-year contract last month, while head coah Reid will push for the NFL's all-time wins record under his new contract. Quarterback Mahomes is already locked in on a deal through the 2031 season.
